Our milking team consists of 12 milkers.  Each three person crew milks all the cows in an 8-hour shift; they work 3 days on with every fourth day off.                           


Dyecrest has milked 3 X per day since 1978, using a Bou-Matic computerized milking system.  The system automatically ID’s each cow as she enters the parlor and records her production as she milks, her milking rate, what pen she was in, and other important information.  The main herd is milked in a double-21 herringbone with rapid exit.  Any animal producing un-saleable milk is milked in a separate barn, a single 8-herringbone parlor. That milk is put in a separate tank, pasteurized and fed to the calves.
