Young Stock
Every calf born at Dyecrest is raised. The females go back in the milking herd as replacements. The bulls are made into steers and sold as light feeders. Even with raising every calf born- our birth to weaning mortality rate has stayed in the 1-3% range for many years. We feel one of the best things we do for the calves is to pasteurize the waste milk before feeding it to the calves, plus we have excellent calf feeders.
